Choose Your Own Adventure
You are at the last party of the summer before the school year starts. There are students of every grade hanging out. Everyone is discussing how their summer has been and what they are and aren’t looking forward to in the next school year. You are feeling excited and hoping to have a fun night out with friends to enjoy what little time you have left before school starts. Your friend and host of the party, Mara, comes around with vodka shots, offering you one, and suggesting a toast to the end of summer.
What do you choose?
Sam in the Kitchen
You start dancing with Sam, someone you have known for years and always thought was cute. Sam is friends with Mara and suggests that the two of you go upstairs for a while, adding that Mara said anyone could use her room. You feel nervous at the thought of hooking up with Sam but some of your friends overhear and give you subtle thumbs up in the background.
Emerson in the Kitchen
You and AJ see your friend Emerson DJing with Mara’s bluetooth speaker. You have to shout to be heard over the music. Emerson takes a selfie with the three of you, reminding you that you will want to remember this night for a long time. After a while, you start feeling bored and want a break from the loud music. Emerson and AJ say they want to stay in the kitchen.
Cleo in the Kitchen
Your friend Cleo is in the kitchen dancing and having a great time. You chat with them happily even though you have to yell over the music. Cleo is popular and well-liked at school, and you hope to have classes with them this year. As the dancing winds down, Cleo shows you a picture on their phone. They laugh, saying that some kid in your class named Ali passed out and people were drawing on Ali’s face. They ask you what they should caption the photo on Instagram. You feel uncomfortable about what Cleo is doing, but you don’t want to seem like a downer by speaking up.
Quinn in the Living Room
You notice a quiet classmate of yours, Quinn, isn’t drinking. You don’t know them very well but start chatting with them and realize that you have a lot in common. Quinn is funny, and pretty hot too. At some point, you look at your phone and are surprised to realize you and Quinn have been talking for over an hour. You feel excited that the two of you get along so well and start to realize you have a crush on them. You begin to wonder what you should do next.
Ali in the Living Room
After some semi-flirtatious chatting Quinn wanders off. You spot your friend Ali in the living room and talk about your crush on Quinn, but you're finding them difficult to read. You tell Ali about trying to flirt, but Quinn didn’t seem to pick up on it, and you’re now feeling a bit confused. Ali laughs and says Quinn has always been “a little weird.” Ali tells you that Sam, who everyone thinks is cute, has a crush on you, and is upstairs in Mara’s room.
Riley in the Living Room
A classmate of yours, Riley, sits on the couch beside you. Riley seems pretty out of it. You go and get them some water. After a few minutes, Riley is still slurring their words and having a hard time keeping their head up. When you ask them if there’s someone you can call, Riley gets agitated and tells you that they need to stay at the party because they need to hook up with someone. They also tell you that they’re feeling “really down.” You feel really concerned about them and want to make sure that they're alright.
Sam in the Bedroom
Upstairs in Mara’s room, Sam closes the door and sits on the bed. You’re not sure what to do and feel hesitant, but you remember hearing some of your friends talk about having sex and you don’t want to feel left behind. Besides, Sam is cute and nice. Sam must see that you look nervous, because they tell you that there’s no pressure to do anything, and they’d be happy to just talk and get to know each other better.
AJ in the Bedroom
You wander upstairs and find AJ in Mara’s bedroom. They tell you they feel out of place at the party because none of their close friends were able to make it. You chat with them for a bit but start feeling impatient and worried about missing out on too much going on at the rest of the party. When you ask AJ what would feel fun for them, they respond that they aren’t sure, and they might just stay upstairs.
Jana in the Bedroom
The next day, you get a text from your friend Jana that you missed out on a ton because you left the party early. You can’t help but feel some regret, so you call Jana and find out who hooked up with who and who got too drunk. Jana's voice gets quieter when they tell you that some of your friends were making gross, objectifying comments about a group of BIPOC girls from your school.

Sasha in the Backyard
You’ve done a couple of shots and start to feel a bit dizzy. You confide in your friend Sasha that you’re not feeling great, but you’re still feeling happy and having a fun time, so you don’t want to leave. Sasha gets you some water and sits with you for a while until you start feeling a bit better. Sasha says they want to go and dance, but they’d be happy to walk you home first if you prefer.
Rory in the Backyard
You are feeling excited and eager to tell your best friend Rory about Sam and what a great night you’ve had. You know that Rory has hooked up with a bunch of people so they will be chill about it, but still celebrate with you. Rory gets you a shot to congratulate you. You’re pretty tired so you sit down, and Rory asks if they should call you an Uber.

When you ask them about it, they shrug and say they aren’t interested in alcohol.
